How Private Sessions Work

Private sessions are one-on-one lessons where you, your dog, and your trainer work together in real time. Unlike board and train where your dog stays with us, private sessions put you in the driver's seat your trainer shows you exactly what to do, then coaches you through it until you've got it.

Every session is customized to your dog's specific challenges. Whether you're dealing with pulling, jumping, reactivity, recall issues, or basic obedience, your trainer builds a plan around what your dog actually needs not a generic curriculum.

Sessions happen at parks, in public environments, or at your home depending on what your dog is working on. Real-world training in real-world settings means the skills your dog learns actually transfer to your daily life.

Private sessions are ideal for owners who want to be hands-on with the training process and build the skills to handle their dog confidently on their own. Dog owners across Manteca, Stockton, Tracy, Lathrop, and San Joaquin County trust K9 Courage for private training that actually works.

Will I Actually See Results?

Yes, if you put in the work between sessions. That's the honest answer.

Private sessions give you the tools, the technique, and the coaching to change your dog's behavior. Your trainer will show you exactly what to do and practice it with you until you feel confident. But unlike board and train, the progress between sessions depends on you following through at home.

That's also what makes private sessions so powerful. You're not just getting a trained dog. You're becoming a better handler. The skills you build in private sessions stay with you for this dog and every dog you'll ever own.

Who Are Private Sessions For?

You want to be hands-on with the training. You want to learn how to handle your dog yourself, not just pick up a trained dog.  Private sessions teach YOU the skills.

Your dog has a specific issue you need to fix. Pulling, jumping, reactivity, recall. If there's one or two things driving you crazy, private sessions can laser focus on those problems.

Your schedule doesn't allow for board and train. Can't be without your dog for 2-4 weeks? Private sessions fit around your life with flexible scheduling.

Your dog just needs a tune-up. Already went through a program and need a refresher? Single sessions or a short package can get things back on track.

Need Faster Results?

If you're dealing with serious behavior issues or you just want the fastest possible transformation, our board and train program might be a better fit.

Your dog stays with us for 2-6 weeks and comes home with the training already built in.

Not sure which is right? Book a free evaluation and we'll tell you honestly which program your dog needs.

Everything You Need to Know Before Booking (FAQ)

How long is each private session?

Sessions are about one hour. The exact time depends on what your dog is working on and how the session is going. We don't cut you off mid-exercise to watch the clock.

Where do private sessions take place?

At parks, in public environments, or at your home wherever makes the most sense for what your dog needs to work on. Real-world training happens in real-world settings.

How many sessions will my dog need?

It depends on your dog's age, breed, and what you're working on. Most dogs see real progress in 4-6 sessions. During your free evaluation, your trainer will give you an honest recommendation, not an upsell.

What if my dog needs more help than private sessions can provide?

If your trainer sees that your dog would get better results from board and train, they'll tell you. We'd rather put you in the right program than sell you something that won't work. That's what the free evaluation is for.

Do I need any equipment before starting?

Bring your dog's leash, collar, and some high-value treats. Don't feed your dog a full meal before the session. Your trainer will recommend any additional equipment based on your dog's program.

Can I bring my kids to the session?

We recommend leaving young children at home if possible so you can focus on the training. If that's not an option, we'll make it work, just let us know ahead of time.

What training methods do you use?

The training approach is tailored to your dog's temperament, breed, and specific challenges. The goal is always clear communication between you and your dog that leads to reliable, real-world obedience. Your trainer will explain the full approach during your free evaluation.

How much do private sessions cost?
